"1940s breeches LANDGIRL corduroy brown "
Land Girls were women of all ages who got the men's jobs done in 1940s Britain. Of course practical attire was needed for harvesting, animal care and repair work. A pair of brown corduroy breeches were part of the outfit.
Like the original our LANDGIRL breeches are made from hard-wearing brown cotton corduroy. They are fitted at the waist and lower leg, while the thigh area provides the typical extra width of riding trousers. The slanted slit pockets at the front are reinforced with vintage leather pieces. Another authentic detail is the button placket at the side. The width of the leg ends can be adjusted using waxed cotton drawstrings. In addition to that a generous seam allowance could be let out in this area if needed. The waist size is adjustable as well using a wide elasticated band with buttonholes.
Robust and comfortable, this piece is not for couch potatoes! Wear them at a tweed ride, a vintage car rally, hiking or in the garden, they are the perfect garment for the modern Land Girl!
Combine the breeches with a cotton blouse, tie and knitted jumper like the original, or add the sports jacket KATHERINE or AMELIA for an authentic aviator look.
